Location: Akron - Onsite
$5,000 sign-on bonus with 2-yr commitment
Summary:
The Mental Health Therapist applies graduate-level clinical counseling skills/social work to the psychosocial assessment of individuals, adolescents, families, and groups and provides graduate-level clinical social work/counseling interventions as appropriate to client needs in the context of the department.
Responsibilities:
1.Triage and assess intake calls received from families and community referral sources. Conducts preliminary diagnostic assessment over the telephone to assess the need for services for children and adolescents seeking psychiatric and psychological services.
2.Apply crisis intervention skills when indicated, and determine formally the need for a referral to the Emergency Department or a more suitable community agency.
3.For Emergency Department (ED) referrals, conducts face-to-face comprehensive diagnostic assessment in the ED to maximize continuity of care with the family.
4.Conducts initial patient and family psychosocial assessment.
5.Communicates with team members regarding assessment, treatment and interdisciplinary care plan through patient rounds and documentation.
6.Provide case management for assigned patients and collaborate with community and hospital resources to ensure follow-up is in place after discharge.
7.Provide competent social work clinical services to individuals, families, and community partners.
8.Develop and communicate individualized treatment plans for patients including psycho-social interventions, referrals to other services, and recommendations for follow-up.
9.Consult and collaborate with hospital and community professionals and programs in order to provide the most appropriate referral for clients and their families.
10.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychological, social, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age.
11.Other duties as required.
Other information:
Technical Expertise
1.Clinical experience in child and adolescent diagnostic assessment is required.
2.Experience in delivering crisis intervention is highly preferred.
3.Strong listening and communication skills coupled with the ability to work well in an interdisciplinary setting as part of a highly active team.
4.Ability to establish rapport with patients, their families and other team members and work under time pressures is essential to this position.
5.Experience working with various levels within an organization is required.
6.Experience in healthcare is preferred.
7.Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
8.Experience working with an electronic medical record system (i.e. EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
Education and Experience
1.Education: Licensed Independent Social Worker with a Master's Degree in Social Work from accredited Social Work academic program (Accredited by the Council on Social Work Education).
2.Education: Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Master's Degree in Community or Rehabilitation Counseling from an accredited program in Counseling (CACREP accredited).
3.Must be certified or become certified within six months from date of hire in Non-violence Crisis Intervention by the Crisis Training Institute or an equivalent program that addresses ways to de-escalate potentially violent incidents that may include physical interventions.
4.Years of relevant experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience is preferred.
5.Years of supervisory experience: None.
