Position Summary: The MHP is a clinical position responsible for the delivery of counseling and case management services to an identified client population. This position maintains a client caseload, following established treatment guidelines and agency policies and procedures. Provides therapeutic intervention in a variety of treatment modalities individually matched to the needs of each client. Provides referrals to other services and programs in the community, as needed. Actively advocates on behalf of the client. This position will provide specific behavioral health management strategies through formal and informal training and consultative services for individuals in the Expanded Community Services (ECS) program. This is a DSHS, Home & Community Services (HCS) contracted program to provide behavioral supports to clients with mental health, substance use and other challenging behaviors discharged from state and local psychiatric hospitals, evaluation and treatment facilities, hospitals and other residential facilities discharged to ECS contracted Adult Family Homes throughout Pierce County. This position will work with a small and supportive team consisting of a program manager, psychiatric providers, case managers and peer specialist. This position also coordinates and collaborates closely with the Adult Family Home staff and our partners in care, case managers with DSHS, HCS to assist clients to maximize their success in maintaining their residential placement and recovery.
Minimum Requirements: Previous experience providing mental health counseling services preferred
Education/Licenses/Certifications: Designated as a Mental Health Professional as defined in the WAC 388-865-0238 for Behavioral Health organizations required: (1) A psychiatrist, psychologist, psychiatric nurse or social worker as defined in chapters 71.05 and 71.34 RCW; (2) A person who is licensed by the department of health as a mental health counselor, mental health counselor associate, marriage and family therapist, or marriage and family therapist associate; (3) A person with a master's degree or further advanced degree in counseling or one of the behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university. Such person shall have, in addition, at least two years of experience in direct treatment of persons with mental illness or emotional disturbance, such experience gained under the supervision of a mental health professional; (4) A person who meets the waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260, which was granted prior to 1986 Must obtain Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor registration upon hire unless a higher clinical credential is held Current Washington State Drivers License; and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state.
