The role youâ™ll contribute:
The Employee Relations Specialized Services Senior Manager is responsible for managing a team of Employee Relations Senior Specialists, Employee Relations Specialists and Employee Relations Assistants who provide subject matter guidance to the employee relations team and HR leadership and process specialized and routine Employee Relations tasks for client facilities. The Employee Relations Specialized Services Senior Manager builds a team of individuals who are equipped to handle escalated employee relations claims and provide consultation and collaboration on specific areas of employee relations to include, but not limited to the following: EEOC, position statements, restructuring, harassment, discrimination, discipline, and unemployment compensation. This individual will serve as a trainer for regional staff and as a strategic partner in leading investigations related to administrative and/or legal actions against a facility. Additionally, this position will be responsible for auditing the quality and recommending to Regional Managers improvements by their team members in documentation in the Employee Relations case management system. In consultation with the Employee Relations Director will conceptualize and execute policies and practices to be used by the Employee Relations teams and will and provide guidance, information, and recommendations to Adventist Health System employees, HR Business Partners, HR leaders, legal counsel, and state/federal agencies in the resolution of employee relations issues.

- Manages the delivery of employee relations services through leadership of Employee Relations Specialists and Employee Relations Assistants; Delegates employee related matters to team as appropriate to ensure that specialized services are available in the following employee relations topical areas: EEOC, position statements, restructuring, harassment, discrimination, discipline, and unemployment compensation
- Partners with HR Business Partners, HR Shared Services, and HR leaders to help identify and remedy employee relations issues, alleviates legal risk, and creates work practices that promote positive employee relations
- In consultation with Employee Relations Director, conceptualizes and executes policies and practices to be used by the Employee Relations teams, trains new Regional Team members to policies and practices.
- Partners with HR Business Partners and Regional Employee Relations Professionals in the rollout of HR initiatives, especially those related to the promotion of positive employee relations
- Fosters a team environment that promotes continual growth of knowledge base and experience related to employee relations topics
- Audits Employee Relations case management documentation and recommends improvements to Regional Managers and/or Regional Specialists as appropriate.
- Makes appropriate remedial recommendations to ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures and employment laws and regulations
- Serves as a liaison between the employee relations team, other human resources teams to facilitate positive and productive working relationships
- Provides leadership and support to team members on policy interpretation and other employee relations matters
- Works collaboratively to provide support for escalated employee relations issues, leading investigations and coordinating with internal and external legal counsel for requested information and responses related to administrative and/or legal actions against a facility
- Assists with leadership and employee development initiatives, such as training, including training Employee Relations Specialists in the use of and appropriate documentation methods in the Employee Relations Case Management system (HR Helpdesk)
- Stays current on employment law, as well as employment trends; Proactively researches information to ensure compliance, provide appropriate consultation, and avoid/eliminate exposure to the organization
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences youâ™ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Business, Human Resources, or relevant field
- Minimum of seven years of Employee Relations experience
- Significant experience in conducting investigations related to administrative and legal actions and developing defense strategy with legal counsel
- Minimum of five years of experience in a management role
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Masterâ™s degree preferred
- Experience in the employee relations function at a large sized organization preferred
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation or equivalent
