Business Health Solutions, PC, a leader in occupational health, safety, and environmental professionals is seeking an individual to be responsible for managing other occupational health and/or allied health professionals in the process of administering an effective occupational health program at the facility or regional level.  Manages others, acts as a business partner and serves as a consultant to management to maximize productivity and reduce health related costs and risk through continuous improvement of the occupational health program.   OH program elements include:  immediate care for illness and injury, health surveillance, job placement, regulatory compliance, case management and health promotion. Practices within the parameters of professional licensure to ensure consistency with legal, labor, regulatory and corporate requirements.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

·  Designs and manages the occupational health program to meet employee health risks, develops related policies, programs and procedures, establishes goals for health management programs and measures outcomes. Establishes priorities and organizes department workflow.

·   Contributes to goal setting and the completion of organizational projects and goals through the effective use of project management skills.

·    Provides a system for the immediate care of employee and visitor injuries and illnesses.  Collaborates with other EHS professionals and management to provide oversight and quality assurance to the root cause analysis process and to ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriate and effective.

·    Establishes systems for appropriate job placement and health surveillance of employees, including management and trend analysis.  Examples include required audiometric testing, hearing conservation program management and training, spirometry, respiratory surveillance and fit-testing, and management of reproductive and chemical hazard exposures.

·  Establishes and maintains a documentation system for occupational health record keeping and confidentiality.  Responsible for all required OH reporting.  Compiles and analyzes statistical information related to OH.

·  Designs an effective case management program including coordination with other health care professionals, human resources, department managers, and insurance carrier representatives or TPA to facilitate timely return to work and appropriate utilization of benefits.

·  Provides health-related counseling and oversight of the counseling services provided by supervised OH staff members and qualified vendors.

·  Partners with other environmental health and safety professionals to recognize environmental factors, and health and safety hazards (e.g. ergonomic stressors) in the workplace that may cause elevated risk to employees.  Actively participates in identifying appropriate control methods and determining strategies to reduce those risks.  Contributes to facility and corporate-wide team efforts to address OH issues.  Participates in the EHS audit program.

·  Periodically evaluates the effectiveness of the facility occupational health program and takes measures to achieve continuous improvement.  Establishes and manages the occupational health program budget and associated vendors. Reports cost savings directly associated with providing occupational health and case management services. 

·  Supervises or mentors other occupational health professionals within the facility. Actively supports EHS team initiatives by providing OH perspective. Contributes to and/or manages new hire orientation, required EHS training and health promotion programming.

·  Establishes working relationships with appropriate community agencies and health consultants to achieve program support and optimum health care for employees. Responsible for maintaining a high level of expertise through participation in continuing education for professional growth.

·  Actively participates in continuing professional education and presents on occupational health topics both internally and externally.  Maintains professional certification and mentors other OHNs to achieve same.

· Responsible for all aspects of the on-site drug and alcohol testing program, including follow-up with outcomes.

·  Applies ergonomic principles effectively:   Aligns medical department activities (e.g. first-aid) with ergonomic risk assessments and reduction control measures for employees experiencing potentially work-related musculoskeletal symptoms.

·   Assures compliance with applicable health and safety regulations.
