This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Learn more This position is located in the Mental Health Service at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Goose Creek, SC. Senior Social Worker practices social work in the Mental Health Service Line at the one of the facility's community-based outpatient clinics. Senior Social Worker has responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns. Senior Social Worker is assigned to work with the mental health patient population with high complex mental health conditions. The Senior Social Worker performs specialized treatment of Veterans with complex mental health issues. Functions include working with interdisciplinary teams to identify eligible Veterans service by the Medical Center and community, providing appropriate social work intervention for all mental health consults, and providing counseling, case management and education for Veterans and their families. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Perform case finding functions and outreach, identify and screen complex patients for psychosocial needs Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans in collaboration with the Veteran/family and with the interdisciplinary treatment team Take initiative to coordinate community-based services including information and referral for additional services from other VA programs, other government programs and community agency programs Identify high-risk patients and provide appropriate and comprehensive services Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families Provide consultation services to other staff regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to treatment plan Utilize in depth knowledge of Veterans' benefits and services relating to special programs, service connected compensation, and non-service connected pension Communicate and treat customers (Veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 08:00 a.m. to 04:30 p.m. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
