The Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) serves as a member of the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). The BHIP consists of multi-disciplinary teams of mental health professionals which provide comprehensive, accessible, Veteran-centered mental health care. Join the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) as a Marriage and Family Therapist for the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). You will be responsible for coordinating and providing specialty mental health therapy with a focus on couples, families, individuals and groups utilizing systemic theories requiring expertise in interpersonal relationships with conceptualizations that are distinct from individually oriented therapies. You will conduct assessment interviews, develop treatment plans and provide treatment to eligible Veterans. Treatment modalities may include crisis intervention, intake evaluations, outreach services as well as empirically based treatment for families, couples, and individuals with mental health disorders. You may refer clients to other programs and professionals as appropriate. You will also participate in and provide consultation to other team members; participate in conjoint emergency treatment with medical facility mental health personnel. Other duties include: May be responsible for the clinical supervision of MFT's for licensing purposes only provided they have an AAMFT approved supervisor credential; May serve as the representative for Psychology Service on various Psychology Service, Mental Health Service Line, System, or VISN administrative committees or work groups as assigned; Provide subject matter consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in the specialty area, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective practice skills. Expands clinical knowledge in the profession, demonstrating innovation in the creation of new models of psychosocial assessment or intervention to identity and address specialized clinical needs. Assists in drafting policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines pertaining to the specialty population or specialty treatment program as assigned Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Alternate schedules may be necessary to meet the needs of the organization.) Recruitment/Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Financial Disclosure Report: Not required Preferred Experience: Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense experience Work experience in community settings Experience incorporating outcome measures into treatment Experience with evidence-based psychotherapies for individuals, groups, couples and families Experience in case management in complex settings Experience in outpatient general mental health clinics
