The Intake Technician will serve as the initial point of contact for the comprehensive spine program. They are responsible for the collection and documentation of the patients' health information and will explain the intake, triage and navigation process to patients referred to the program. The Intake Technician will develop and maintain a positive working relationship with providers', provider's office staff and all colleagues participating in the referral network. This position is responsible for the coordination of referral/precertification management information between utilization management and providers via phone and/or faxed clinical information and for data entry of utilization management information submitted by on-site Case Managers and/or providers.
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior work experience in medical setting
Prior experience in hospitality or customer service role
Customer service focused
Professional phone etiquette
Strong sense of personal accountability and follow-through
Basic knowledge of medical insurance authorization process
Computer Proficient in Word, Excel and department specific software
Minimum of two (2) years in related working environment such as hospital, physician office, or managed care organization.
